LAKES NAKURU & NAIVASHA (2 days)

This 2 days tour leads you to Lake Nakuru National Park where you have a game drive in the surroundings of the lake. You should see plenty of animals : white rhinoceros, buffalos, flamingos. From there, you continue to Naivasha to sleep over. The second day, you visit a completely different park made of nature and adventures, experiencing a boat riding and a bike safari in Hells Gate.

 

DAY 1 : Visit of Lake Nakuru National Park

 

From Iten, participants begin their journey at 3:30 AM to reach Nakuru via a road that runs along the Rift Valley. They will witness a magnificent sunrise while enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding farmland and plantations. Around 7:30 AM, they reach the entrance to Nakuru Park (Lanet Gate).

Once in the park, several wild animals can be observed: giraffes, antelopes, rhinos, zebras, buffaloes, hyenas, lions and other animals that make up the incredible animal diversity of the park. Lake Nakuru is also a paradise for bird watchers and wildlife photographers, as many species of birds inhabit the area around the salt lake.

 

The region is world famous for its pink flamingos, present in their thousands, which feed on the algae (such as Spirulina) present in the lake. The view of the rosy reflections that dress the lake is an incredible experience, admire.

At the end of the game drive, the group head to lunch (Not included). We recommend you the following places : StarbucksJava or Fishpark Resort where you can do some activities like zip lining and other outdoor activities.

 

Participants continue their trip to Naivasha where they spend the night in a great lodge.



DAY 2 : Visit of Lake Naivasha

Early morning (around 6:30 AM), participants have breakfast and enjoy the beautiful sunrise over the hills surrounding the lake. They take a boat ride and see the hippos feeding. This serene surrounding is the home of many birds species resting on top of dead trees in the lake, including the majestic eagle as well as other beautiful and brightly coloured birds.

 

After half an hour of ride, the participants reach Crescent Island, a sanctuary that is home of many animals like zebras, giraffes and wildebeest. The island is safe and the participants take a 45 to 60 minutes walk observing wildlife. They then join the boat and ride back to the shore.

Optional: Midmorning, participants have the opportunity to explore the Hells Gate National Park, that might remind them another planet as it has beautiful landforms composed by red earth, stone pillars and cliffs. An authentic paint of wildlife. Another possibility is to swim in Olkaria Geothermal station, the biggest geothermal station of Africa.

In the Evening, participants head back to Iten or continue they road to Nairobi.

OPTION: Hike to Mont Longonot (1 day)

Participants have the opportunity to extend their trip of 1 day to hike the Mont Longonot. This ancient volcano offers a family hike that allows you to reach its summit by following the marked path (3 km) from the entrance of the park. It is also possible to walk around the crater (7 km). The total hike of 14 km takes 5 hours and can be difficult due to the altitude (nearly 2,800m above sea level at the highest point) for a total cumulative difference in altitude of 1,000m.
